Your Kanchenjunga Expedition begins upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. A member of our team will be waiting to welcome you and assist with your transfer to the hotel. After checking in, you can relax and recover from your journey or explore the lively streets, markets, and cultural attractions of Nepal’s capital city.

The remainder of the day is free for rest and personal activities. In the evening, you may meet fellow expedition members and receive a brief introduction to the adventure ahead from experienced guide.

These days are reserved for expedition preparation and final arrangements. You will attend detailed briefings with your expedition leader, review the climbing schedule, and complete permit and documentation procedures. A thorough equipment inspection will ensure that all personal and group gear meets expedition requirements.

You will also have time for last-minute shopping in Kathmandu, where a wide range of mountaineering equipment and supplies are available. These preparation days are essential for ensuring a safe and successful expedition.

After breakfast, take a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur in eastern Nepal. During the flight, enjoy impressive views of the Himalayan range and the diverse landscapes below. Upon arrival, begin a picturesque drive through rolling hills, terraced farmlands, and traditional villages toward Phidim.

The journey offers a glimpse into the rich culture and natural beauty of eastern Nepal before reaching your destination for the night.

Today’s drive takes you deeper into the remote Kanchenjunga region. The route passes through rural settlements, lush forests, and scenic valleys, providing excellent views of the surrounding countryside. Upon arrival in Yamphudin, the final road-accessible settlement on the route, preparations will be made for the trekking phase of the expedition. The peaceful mountain atmosphere offers an exciting introduction to the wilderness ahead.

The trekking adventure begins today as you leave Yamphudin and follow trails through dense forests, river valleys, and beautiful natural landscapes. The route includes gradual ascents and descents while crossing several suspension bridges along the way.

As you gain elevation, the surroundings become increasingly remote and tranquil before arriving at Tortong, a small settlement nestled within the forest.

The trail continues through rhododendron and pine forests before emerging into alpine terrain. The landscape gradually opens up, revealing dramatic mountain vistas and glacial valleys characteristic of the Kanchenjunga region.

After a steady climb, arrive at Cheram, a scenic high-altitude settlement surrounded by spectacular Himalayan scenery. This is an important acclimatization stage as the expedition moves toward higher elevations

After breakfast, continue trekking through the upper alpine valley toward Ramche. The trail gradually ascends alongside glacial streams and rugged mountain terrain, offering increasingly impressive views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks. As you approach Ramche, the landscape becomes more dramatic and remote, providing a true high-mountain experience.

A full acclimatization day is essential before moving to higher elevations. You may take short hikes around the area, explore nearby viewpoints, and enjoy panoramic mountain scenery while allowing your body to adapt to the altitude.

This important rest day helps improve acclimatization and prepares the team for the journey toward Advance Base Camp. 

Today’s trek leads into a more rugged glacial environment. Following rocky moraines and high-altitude terrain, you will gradually gain elevation while surrounded by spectacular mountain views. The route offers a firsthand experience of the remote wilderness that defines the Kanchenjunga region.

Upon reaching Glacier Camp, take time to rest and enjoy the extraordinary surroundings.

The trail continues toward Kanchenjunga Advance Base Camp, the primary staging point for the climbing phase of the expedition. The route traverses glacial landscapes and rocky terrain while providing breathtaking views of Kanchenjunga and neighboring peaks.

Upon arrival, the team will establish camp and begin final preparations for the summit push.

This period is dedicated to the ascent of Kanchenjunga, the world’s third-highest mountain. You will follow a carefully planned rotation schedule between Advance Base Camp and the higher camps, focusing on acclimatization, route preparation, and weather monitoring. Climbing high and sleeping down rotation helps you to avoid risk of Acute altitude sickness. 

The expedition involves multiple climbs to higher elevations before the final summit attempt. On summit day, you are rewarded with unforgettable views from the top of one of the most challenging and prestigious peaks in the Himalayas.

Leaving the high alpine landscapes behind, the trail descends steadily from Ramche through scenic valleys, glacial streams, and lush rhododendron forests. As you lose elevation, the terrain becomes greener and the air noticeably warmer. Along the route, enjoy beautiful views of cascading rivers and the diverse natural beauty of the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area.

After several hours of trekking through peaceful mountain wilderness, arrive at Tortong, a small settlement surrounded by dense forest. The lower altitude provides a comfortable environment to rest and recover while reflecting on the achievements of the expedition

After breakfast, continue the descent through lush forests, crossing rivers and suspension bridges along the way. The trail winds through beautiful landscapes and traditional settlements, offering opportunities to experience the local culture of the Kanchenjunga region.

Upon reaching Yamphudin, enjoy a well-earned rest after completing the trekking portion of the expedition. 

Leaving the mountains behind, begin a scenic drive toward Ilam, Nepal’s famous tea-growing region. The journey passes through picturesque hills, terraced farmlands, and charming rural villages, providing a relaxing transition from the rugged Himalayan environment.

Upon arrival, take time to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and beautiful landscapes that make Ilam one of eastern Nepal’s most attractive destinations.

After breakfast, drive from Ilam to Bhadrapur through the rolling hills of eastern Nepal. Upon arrival at the airport, board a scenic flight back to Kathmandu, enjoying final views of the Himalayas and diverse landscapes below.

After landing in Kathmandu, transfer to your hotel and take a rest. 

After weeks of adventure in the Himalayas, today is reserved for relaxation and personal activities in Kathmandu. You may spend the day exploring the city’s cultural landmarks, visiting local markets, or shopping for souvenirs and gifts to take home. It is also an excellent opportunity to unwind and celebrate the successful completion of the Kanchenjunga Expedition.

In the evening, join your fellow climbers, guides, and expedition staff for a special farewell dinner. Share stories from the journey, celebrate achievements, and enjoy a memorable final evening in Nepal.

Your remarkable journey comes to an end today. Depending on your flight schedule, our representative will transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your international departure.
